Resolute Forest Boss Insists 'Give Me Chance' During Scrutiny

Ange Postecoglou during press conference

The Forest manager has not won a single one of his seven fixtures since replacing the previous manager last month

Embattled manager Ange Postecoglou delivered a passionate explanation of his legacy as he vowed to claim silverware for the team if given time

The 60-year-old faces scrutiny after failing to win none of his initial seven fixtures after taking over from the former manager last month

Forest have been considering potential alternatives throughout the break, and former Clarets coach the experienced tactician one of the candidates evaluated to possibly take over even though Postecoglou having been in charge for just 38 days

They host Chelsea on Saturday while Postecoglou delivered a lengthy address at his pre-match press conference, with the team 17th in the Premier League

"Some look on the negatives but I look at the progress being made," he stated, "I'm truly optimistic since I work with a squad of emerging talents ready to evolve"

He also confirmed there was no discussion with the club's owner Evangelos Marinakis over the recent pause

"I refuse to spend my energy regarding external perceptions" he continued

"I genuinely don't match, not just at Forest, throughout football" he elaborated

Previous Club History

"I took over Spurs and was informed from the owner during that period 'this organization needs to claim a trophy'"

"He stated 'we've tried to bring winners in, Jose [Mourinho] and the Italian tactician but it didn't succeed, we must have an alternative method'"

"I felt somewhat insulted by that statement as I view myself as a winner"

Justifying His Performance

"We ended up in fifth position my first year" he recalled

"Every time Harry Kane put the ball in I often thought he would have continued for additional time since it could have been handy to keep his services post our top-five position"

"Yet somehow that campaign has vanished from the record books" he contended

Looking Forward

"Therefore, we arrive at the present situation where there's a different story to share, that maybe I'm not a disappointing tactician who was lucky to get this job"

"but maybe I am a coach that if you give them time, the narrative consistently concludes identically"

"Throughout my coaching career, the result is consistent - through my leadership celebrating success"

Postecoglou won continental honors in May - their first piece of silverware in nearly two decades and their first European honor after forty-one years

Previous Scottish champion also promised, if given time, he would maintain his history of claiming honors everywhere he has managed
